Private Event Videographer in Carlow, Waterford and Kilkenny: Filming a Party You Only Get One Shot At

Most people hire a videographer for the wedding and never think about it again. Then a fiftieth birthday comes along, or a retirement do, or an anniversary with three generations in one room, and everyone wishes somebody had been filming. Phones don’t count. They catch the cake and miss the speech.

A private event videographer fixes that. Here’s what the job looks like when it’s done well.

What counts as a private function?

Anything with a guest list and a reason to remember it. Milestone birthdays, anniversary dinners, retirement parties and family gatherings that happen once. If the room will be full of people you’d like to see again in ten years, it qualifies.

O’Neill Wedding Videos has filmed private events alongside weddings for more than twenty years from our base in Wexford Town. Carlow, Waterford and Kilkenny are part of our normal patch, so you’re not paying for a stranger to find the venue.

What private videography services actually include

Quiet cameras. That’s the starting point. Nobody wants a crew that turns a party into a shoot, so we film the way we do at weddings: watch, record, stay out of the way. Our wedding videography page describes that approach in more detail, and it carries over to every private job.

Sound matters more than people expect

A toast that’s inaudible on playback is a wasted toast. We use discreet wireless microphones so speeches and tributes come through clearly, even in a function room full of chatter. Picture is Full HD.

Moments worth planning around

Tell us what the day hinges on. A speech from a grandfather, a surprise entrance, a slideshow that will make people cry. We can’t film what we don’t know about, and two minutes of briefing makes a visible difference.

Private event videographer in Carlow, Waterford and Kilkenny: how it works

Stage	What happens
Enquiry	You tell us the date, venue and what the event is
Planning	We agree what to cover, from arrival to the final toast
The day	We film discreetly and stay out of the way
Delivery	You receive the finished film on USB or DVD

We don’t publish a price list for private jobs because a two-hour dinner and an all-day family gathering are very different bookings. Message us through the contact page and we’ll quote for yours.

Choosing a private videography service

Be a little sceptical of anyone who promises a cinematic masterpiece from a family party. What you want is clean sound, steady pictures and a film people actually watch.

Ask to see a showreel of live events, not only weddings. Our showreels give you a feel for how we handle a crowd. Ask who turns up on the day, because with some companies the person you speak to isn’t the person who films.

And ask about delivery. If you’re hoping to share the film with relatives in other countries, say so up front.

When should you book?

Earlier than you think. Weekends fill with weddings, so a Saturday private function competes with them. Once a date and venue are fixed, get in touch. Midweek events are easier to fit, and our office is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, with weekends by appointment.

Combining a private event with a tape transfer

Here’s a tip that costs nothing. If the occasion is a big family milestone, there’s often a box of old VHS tapes in somebody’s attic that belongs in the film. We run a transfer to USB service, and old footage plays beautifully alongside new.

The short version

A private event deserves proper sound and a camera operator who knows how to disappear. We cover Carlow, Waterford and Kilkenny from Wexford, quote per event and deliver on USB or DVD.
